Mohsen Makhmalbaf

যে কজন চলচ্চিত্রকার ইরানের চলচ্চিত্র জগৎ বদলে দিয়েছেন, যাঁরা নিজেদের হাজার বছরের সাংস্কৃতিক ঐতিহ্য থেকে রসদ নিয়ে আবিষকার করেছেন একটি স্বতন্ত্র চলচ্চিত্রভাষা এবং সেই ভাষা হলিউডের প্রবল দাপটের মধ্যেও বিশ্বজুড়ে শক্তিশালী ও গুরুত্বপূর্ণ অবস্থান দখল করে নিয়েছে; সেই চলচ্চিত্রকারদের অন্যতম মহ্‌সেন মাখমালবাফ। তিনি নানা রকম রাষ্ট্রীয় অনুশাসন আর বাধা-বিপত্তির মধ্যে চলচ্চিত্র নির্মাণ করেছেন। তাঁর কিছু ছবি ইরানে ছাড়পত্র পায়নি, কিছু ছাড়পত্র পাওয়ার পরও নিষিদ্ধ হয়েছে আবার কিছু ছবির অংশবিশেষ কর্তন করা হয়েছে। ছাড়পত্র পেতে, নিষেধ ও কর্তন এড়াতে অথবা যাতে কম কর্তিত হয় সেই লক্ষ্যে তিনি ছবি নির্মাণ করেছেন নানা রকম কৌশল অবলম্বন করে।
